SKILLING AND LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT
As per the 2011 Census, India has 55 million potential workers between the ages of 15 and 35 in rural areas. These numbers represent a historic opportunity for India to convert its demographic surplus into a demographic dividend. ESAF has been partnering with National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) as the programme implementing agency of DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana), a Government of India youth employment scheme for rural students. ESAF has established the Lahanti Institute of Multiple Skills in Jharkhand to provide employable skills to the tribal and rural women and youths.
